Ink on paper, mounted and framed under glass. Painted in ink contour lines (baimiao): An elegant lady holding a ruyi scepter sits on a goat cart carrying flowers. Inscribed and signed: "Meibo Xie". An artist's seal: "Mou Bo".
From a German private collection, acquired before 2007. A handwritten note from 12/27/87 with German translation of the inscription available
Yao Xie with courtesy names Meibo, Mou Bo etc. was from Zhenhai, Zhejiang Province and was a scholar in late Qing Dynasty. He was not only a poet, but also specialized in ink painting depicting prunus and figures in the Baimiao technique - Minor damages due to age, two tears, minor rest.
